Do you offer discounts for children?

3 years old and below - Free 4 to 12 years old - 25% off from adult price Children aged 13 years old and above to pay full price

Is there conservation contribution fees?

All adults visitors are subject to an additional RM5 Conservation Fee

GETTING HERE

How do I get there?

You need to make your way to Sandakan. Getting to our lodge from Sandakan will require you to journey via boat transfer or overland.

What should I pack?

  • Lightweight walking shoes (waterproof is preferable).
  • Water shoes or sandals.
  • Sports socks
  • Lightweight, casual hiking clothing ie light pants, shorts and shirts.
  • In village areas please dress modestly especially women
  • Bathing suit and a hat
  • Sunscreen and biodegradable insect repellent (Citronella).
  • Flashlight or head lamp
  • Light raincoat.
  • Camera equipment and memory cards (batteries and chargers)
  • Binoculars

DURING YOUR STAY

Should I be worried of wild animals?

You are lucky if you’ve got the chance to have close encounter with wild animals but they should not be disturbed of disadvantaged by your presence. This is to ensure your safety as well as the wild animals. Your tour guide should ensure your safety especially where dangerous animals are concerned. Be especially watchful and never leave children unattended.

Are there an mosquitoes? How to protect from mosquitoes bite?

Yes of course. Be sure to use mosquito repellents to protect yourself and wear long sleeves and pants. Every bed will be equipped with mosquito net.

Can I swim at the river?

No. As your safety has top priority throughout our business, we do not encourage you to swim at the river consider the risks created by unusual or unforeseen circumstances. To beat the heat one can always enjoy the cool dip pool available at the lodge while sipping your favourite drink.

What can I see while staying at SEC?

Sightseeing and wildlife tours provided by the Borneo Eco Tours will give you a chance to travel through a variety of landscapes and to observe wild animals such as Orang Utan and Borneon Pygmy Elephant. There have been more than 300 species of birds recorded around here and favoured by bird enthusiast.

What kind of boats do you use to operate, is it safe?

It depends on the condition of the river current. To promote green practices, the boat will use an electric motor. To ensure guest safety and comfort, we will try to not overcrowd the boat.

FACILITIES

What type of rooms are there?

The rooms available in SEC are twin sharing and 1 quintuplet.

Are life jackets provided on the river tours, particularly for children?

There are more than enough life jackets available and provided in both adult and children sizes. They can be slightly large for a 2 years old but still wearable. Anyone older will fit just fine.

Do you have laundry service?

Laundry services are not available at the moment. However, washing machine is available and can be used by the guest

Is there cell phone network coverage?

There is minimal coverage for mobile phone lines depending on the network provider.

Is there any TV available?

At the moment, SEC does not provide TV. At SEC, we adopt green practices and therefore we believe in reducing noise pollution especially since this may interfere with wildlife. Escape from your flat screens and enjoy the serenity as well as the various wildlife excursions!

Are the rooms air-conditioned?

Sticking to the green practice theme, the rooms in SEC are not air-conditioned. However, our rooms including the Common Room have ceiling fans.

Where do we get our meals?

Meals are included. There is also a kitchen available, which is readily equipped with a stove, water dispenser and kitchen utensils. You are welcome to whip up your own meals if you wish! Just make sure to clean up after and store your food in air-tight containers.

Do the showers have the water heater?

Yes. We have showers with water heater installed. However, guests should be noted that our shower place is gender neutral and is a public showering cubicle concept.
